Keeping the Show on the Road
28th June 2025

As proud and trusted service providers to some of the UK’s most prominent stadiums and entertainment venues, we understand the importance of keeping the lights on – whether it's for winter events, evening shows, or major televised productions. When you're watching from home or, better still, in the crowd, it's easy to overlook the infrastructure working tirelessly behind the scenes to bring the spectacle to the audience.
Secure, sustainable, and fully operational electrical supplies are fundamental to event safety. Venue operators must comply with strict industry regulations to meet the needs of audiences, performers, officials, and broadcasters. Larger venues, in particular, are expected to ensure that any disruption caused by electrical failure, including delays or cancellations, is minimised or, ideally, avoided altogether.
Many venues have chosen an EME Power Systems maintenance package to support these obligations. These packages are designed to help meet the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, and The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, and enhance the resilience of the electrical network. Through periodic, planned maintenance tailored to an agreed schedule, we help preserve asset condition, extend equipment lifespan, and reduce the risk of unexpected faults.
What’s Included in Our Maintenance Package
Our comprehensive maintenance package includes three key components designed to ensure your venue’s electrical infrastructure remains safe, compliant and resilient:
1. Set-Up
We begin with a detailed site assessment, during which our engineer produces tailored network drawings, a high-voltage asset register, and an inspection and maintenance schedule tailored to your site's equipment.
2. Annual Maintenance
Each year’s requirements are clearly outlined and tailored to your equipment's age and condition. This typically includes a mix of inspections and intrusive maintenance. Where records are lacking, we’ll perform transformer oil PCB testing and address any immediate issues identified in the initial assessment.
3. Customer Support
To keep your venue running smoothly, we offer round-the-clock emergency cover—24/7, 365 days a year. In the event of a power issue, our engineers are ready to respond, ensuring downtime is kept to an absolute minimum.
