Larger Than Your Normal EV’s

EME Power Systems recently completed the installation of an 11kV supply at an abandoned quarry that is being re-opened. As part of the re-opening, the quarry is to be the first of its kind in that it will use electrically powered vehicles in its operations.

As well as producing material for use, the quarry will also act as a demonstration model for people in the industry to see the vehicles in action. These large machines and vehicles will need to be charged quickly to prevent any hold ups in production, meaning super-fast chargers are required.

Requiring a very quick turnaround to get up and running our in house stock of transformers and switch gear enabled us to meet the timeframes imposed avoiding the current longer than normal lead times being encountered. Our works involved liaising with the DNO, installing the HV and LV cabling, and providing a suitable earthing installation for an electrical system containing EV chargers.

Happily the project ran smoothly and the quarry operational all in the required timeframes.

Once again, the ability to supply and install a transformer on a very short turn around really made a big difference to our client, especially considering the even longer than usual shipping times that people are experiencing at the moment.
